Unofficial Rules
While there are no moderators or official game set rules involved in the DavidShore or associated journals, there are a few points that have been loosely agreed upon. If you intend to join in, reply as yourself with your personal journal, or post material from exchanges, keep these points in mind.
Joining As Character
Feel free to join as any character, though you may want to keep the following in mind:
- Doubles — While no one is stopping you from joining as an already existing character, bear in mind that people who post in the DavidShore fiasco are usually rather crazy and territorial, with a lot of free time on their hands. Challenging someone's validity is serious business.
- Doris Egan — Since Doris Egan already has a Livejournal many participants feel as though they would not interact with anyone who joined in as her.
- Disclaimer — Please link to the disclaimer in the website portion of your character journal's profile.
- Frequency of Posting — While there is no onus on any participant to regularly update, moc.liamg|kcidasierohsdivad#gniliame to say that you are deleting your journal, no longer updating, or that you would like to surrender your password would be not made of fail.
- Stephen Fry — There is currently no Stephen Fry in the game. If you would like to join as him do so, but there would be a lot of pressure to sound insanely eloquent but not pretentious, educated, enlightened, warm, as well as very friendly and occasionally very depressed. Join as Stephen Fry on your own peril.
- Looking For — Currently, people have expressed interest in seeing a Chi McBride, Bobbin the Nurse, Marco Pelaez (the Pharmacist), Carmen Argenziano (Henry Dobson, the Ridiculously Old Fraud), Hector the Dog, and Fred Durst. As well, joining as a crewman (a cameraman, extra, etc.), an intern or other person associated with someone already involved is encouraged. Joining as a significant other (Jo Green or Gabriella Sallick, for example) is fine, though keeping it light hearted and respectful (to the degree of not playing them because one doesn't like them, for example) would be key to these roles.
- Abandoned Journals — In the case of someone having not updated in a long while, coming in as that character would be perfectly welcome.
jasonthebloss has connections and might be able to get you the password in the event that that journal has been given up. - The Livejournal Console, Friending — To make it easier to friend all the journals, open the LiveJournal Console and copy the text from the friending journals easily page.
- Godmodding Policy — There isn't one. It's part of the fun. Remember that making it impossible, difficult or not fun for someone to reply helps no one. Play along for the greatest lulz.
Posting In Communities
- In Character — You're on your own. Abide by a community's rules, or pay the price.
- In Reference to DavidShore — As a sort of RP, posting about the players in this game would be seen in bad taste. You wouldn't want that now, would you?
- About Happenings in DavidShore — Most communities don't care. If you want to stir up shit, do it by yourself. If it's relevant to the community (ask yourself, is it really relevant? Rly?) then have at it, but don't expect anyone to help you out. Unless you're ruinating the shit of the Big Three, in which case serve 'em good. You know who they are.
Commenting In Personal Journals (As Character)
- Friends Locked Entries — Obviously you can only comment in journals that are friends locked f they have friended your character, so this is open season. Posting screencaps is frowned upon if capped are comments by non-characters.
- Public Entries — Again, open season in journals that have friended the DavidShore characters. Discretion is wise in journals that have not friended your character.
Replying With Personal Journals
- Trolling — DavidShore is only so restrainable. Risk commenting at your own peril. If you're into loud and obnoxious (as well as obscene) humour, feel free. Many people have found it therapeutic to yell at DavidShore for things like "Fetal Position", the death of Amber and pretty much the entirety of the first season, so feel free to rip him a new one for any particular grievance that you have with House, MD that would otherwise end up on Fandom!Secrets.
- In Character — Yes, he's not really DavidShore. Mr. Lorrie isn't really Hugh. Robert Sean Leonard doesn't really live minute to minute waiting for Hugh to validate his life's existence. In most cases pointing this out only serves to end threads, and it's far more fun to play along. After all it's:
- For The Lulz — This is for fun. For catharsis. For teh ghei. It's for the Lulz.
Posting Material From DavidShore and Associated Journals
- In general, any material posted by a character in the DavidShore journals is fair game for re-posting anywhere, with due credit given.
davidshoredaily has a section every post for classic lulz. Contact
jasonthebloss if you have a daily lol you would like to nominate, or post to the community.
epic_lolz was created for the posting of fan creation and lolling at the DavidShore journals. Posting access is unrestricted for members, and no player would object to material from their character journal being posted here, or anywhere else.- Friends Locked Journals — In the case of friends locked entries, it would be best for all involved if only material by the character journals was capped and posted, unless the original post's author and any involved commenters gave their permission otherwise.
